Brussels sprouts are green leafy veggies which look like small or baby cabbages, they are likely to have originated from Brussels, Belgium from where they got their name.
In India Brussels sprouts are available now but still not a regular veggie in most of the kitchens, well here is a great recipe which is full of flavors and the best part is that it’s low in calories. So try out and enjoy this lovely side dish, which is tangy – sweet with raisins & sour with lemon or red wine, vinegar, the combo is great.

Brussels Sprouts – 1 lb or 500 grams (thinly sliced)
Broccoli – 1 small (cut inro small florets & slightly boiled)
Garlic cloves – 3 minced
Extra virgin olive oil – 2 tablespoons
Salt per taste
Ground black pepper
Pine nuts – 2 tablespoons toasted
Almonds – 1 tablespoon sliced & toasted
Pistachio –1 tablespoon – sliced & toasted
Raisins – 2 tablespoons
Lemon juice – 2 tablespoons (or red wine vinegar)
Parmesan cheese (optional) – 2 tablespoon (grated)
Cottage cheese (Paneer) optional – 2 tablespoon grated
Moong sprouts (optional) – ¼ cup
• Heat olive oil in large pan; add garlic and sauté for 2 minutes. Add Brussels sprouts, salt & ground black pepper and sauté on low heat till they start turning golden brown. Add broccoli and saute till they turn golden in color.
• If they are still taking time to cook, you can add little water and when they are soft and water dries, sauté on high heat for another 2-3 minutes.
• Add lemon juice or red wine vinegar.
• Now take out of pan and put on a serving plate, garnish with toasted pine nuts, almonds & pistachios and raisins.
Note: Enjoy your healthy side dish; you can try it with any breads of like best. You can add sautéed moong sprouts too to enjoy it as a great salad. Cheers!
