Bhindi also called as Okra, Bamya or ladies finger is one of the main veggies cooked in every home. It is cooked in many different ways.

Here is simple recipe which is easy & quick to cook and delicious to eat.

Step-by-Step Easy & Quick Recipe –

Ingredients:

Bhindi (Okra) – 500 grams

Onion – medium – 2 (finely chopped)

Green chili – 1

Tomato – medium 2 (grated – don’t include the skin)

Garlic – 4 (finely chopped)

Curry leaves – 5-6 leaves

Cumin seeds – ½ teaspoon

Mustard seeds – ½ teaspoon

Salt per taste

Turmeric powder – 1/8 teaspoon

Coriander powder – 1 teaspoon

Red chili powder – ½ teaspoon

Extra virgin olive oil or any vegetable oil – 2 tablespoon

Instructions:

  • Wash and pat dry the okra, without any moisture remaining in them. Now chop & trims the ends of okra (bhindi) and cut ½ inch pieces, the heat one-tablespoon oil in a pan, add okra and fry okra for about 20-25 minutes. It should get brown but not burn.
  • Heat oil in a wok or large pan and add curry leaves, cumin seeds & mustard seeds. When they splitter and gets aromatic, add onion & garlic. Fry for 5-6 minutes till onions start getting golden brown.
  • Add grated tomato and salt, turmeric, coriander & chili powders. Fry 10-12 minutes without cover till oil separates from masala and okra is cooked.
  • When the okra is cooked and soft enough to be eaten, now lastly add green coriander. Mix well and serve.

Note: Bhindi sabzi can be served with dal, chapatti, rice. Enjoy!
