Mashed Sweet Potato


Indians usually like roasted sweet potatoes (shakarkandi) and I know for sure that it is absolutely yum. There are many other ways in which sweet potatoes are cooked and taste equally great.

Here is a very simple, super quick recipe with steamed or boiled and mashed sweet potatoes, brown sugar & butter & a dash of cinnamon flavor. An absolute winner with kids too!

Step-by-Step Easy & Quick Recipe –

Sweet Potato (shakarkandi) – medium 2 (boiled, peeled & diced)

Brown sugar – 3 tablespoon or per taste

Butter unsalted – 2 tablespoon + 1/2 teaspoon

Cinnamon – ¼ teaspoon (optional)

Almond flakes – 1 tablespoon (Toasted)


  • Wash, boil or steam sweet potatoes with skin in a large saucepan. Once tender peel and puree in a food processor.
  • Now heat the butter in a pan and add brown sugar, cinnamon & pureed sweet potatoes. Mix well so that the sugar & cinnamon flavor blends well with sweet potatoes.
  • Transfer to serving plate and garnish with toasted almonds & little butter.

Note: Enjoy this dish any time of the day as a side dish or a quick meal or a nice dessert. Yummy!
