Affogato with Chilled-Brewed Coffee

Affogato in Italian language means, “drowned”. It is basically a coffee based dessert. Here normally hot coffee shots are poured over vanilla ice cream scoops. Well it is definitely interesting and is too delicious and addictive.

For making this recipe, just whisk coffee with water, chill and then pour over the ice cream dollops. We have done this recpe with chilled coffee, not hot one. Try this!

Ground coffee – 2/3 cup (coarse ground)

Vanilla ice cream – 2 scoops

Dark chocolate – 2 tablespoons (shavings)

Water – 3 cups (cold)


  • Place cold water and coffee in a small & deep mixing bowl and whisk well. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight. Take out whisk again and then sieve it with a very fine mesh strainer or thru muslin cloth.
  • Now for servings place ice cream scoops in 2 coffee cups and pour over ¼ cup of coffee, garnish with chocolate shavings.
