Milk or cream – ½ cup
Cheddar cheese – 1 cup (shredded or grated)
Flour – 1 tablespoon
Butter – 1 tablespoon
Mustard – ½ teaspoon (ground)
Salt to taste
Ground black pepper
Nutmeg – a pinch
- In a saucepan melt butter and add flour & cook for 2 minutes, Stir constantly. Now stir in mustard & nutmeg. Mix well.
- Gently & slowly add milk or cream and cook, stirring constantly till it thickens.
- Add cheese and keep stirring till the cheese melts completely and the sauce becomes thick & bubbly. Season with salt & pepper. If the sauce is too thick, you can add milk little by little till you reach the desired consistency.
