Lauki (bottle gourd) – 4 cups (peeled & grated)
Milk – 1 ¼ cup
Khoya – 4 tablespoons
Sugar – 2 cups or per taste
Pistachio – 8-10 pieces (sliced)
Ghee (clarified butter) – ½ cup
- In a large saucepan add grated bottle gourd and ghee, cook for 5-6 minutes. Now add milk and once milk reaches boiling point add sugar and simmer on medium or low heat till ghee separates from the halwa mixture & the lauki is all soft & tender.
- Now add khoya and mix well. Check & adjust the sugar taste. Add pistachio and mix well.
Note: Serve hot or at room temperature, garnish with some chopped dry nuts (almonds & cashewnuts) if desire. Enjoy!
